Blog Show and Senate Insurance. The ancient Greek Gods couldn't have created a better pair! This match made in heaven was due in very large part to the very hard work put forth by the dynmic duo of Dan Steinberg and Jamie Mottram. It may look like all fun and games, but I can assure you that they would not agree. I think their dedication shines through when Blog Show is stacked up against the competition. Oops, that certainly was unprofessional, now wasn't it?

Sunday FunDay!

How does every Sunday sound?

Sounds good to me.

Seeing as how Sunday's are basically a "research" day for me, I guess I can drag myself to the trusty laptop for a few moments.

So, what did we miss?

Redskins: I was hurting that day after the beinnings of my birthday celebration, but I have to say that I kinda liked some of what I saw. Let's reserve judgement for now.

I see no coincidence whatsoever in the fact that XXII is also associated with the Redskins greatest moment, or do I?

Maryland: Not a bad effort, can't say I was too happy with some of the play calling, but I can also see why Fridge has a lack of confidence in his quarterback. Rough spot. Thanks for playing Josh! I truly believe this is a top 15 team with a more mobile, faster qb. This gave me a chuckle, even though it wasn't taken Thursday night in College Park.

I'm sure there are others that are obvious, but my head hurts already.

PLEASE NOTE: There will not be a Blog Show this week, but there will be an interesting Washington Post Live on Monday with Agent Bog joining us LIVE from Philadelphia while Mr I. is on set as a panelist. We also got Stan Kasten on Wednesday, should be great.

NBA Summer League in Primetime

I just notcied this email in my work inbox.

WASHINGTON DC – The National Basketball Association recently released the team participants and schedule for the 2007 NBA Summer League presented by adidas, the league’s summer showcase in Las Vegas for top free agents and members of the 2007 NBA Draft class.

“The Las Vegas Summer League is an important part of the development and maturation of our younger players," said Grunfeld. "We are excited to see our younger players have an opportunity to play in a very competitive environment. This will mark our third consecutive summer participating in the Las Vegas Summer League, and we look forward to joining the 21 other teams for an exciting two weeks of basketball."

Additionally, for the first time ever, Comcast SportsNet will broadcast all five of the Wizards’ summer league contests in primetime.

“As a long-standing partner of the Washington Wizards, Comcast SportsNet is delighted to add this original game programming to its lineup, featuring one of the most exciting teams in the NBA,” said Rebecca Schulte, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic. “These five games will give our viewers the first look at many of the Wizards top prospects, including the team’s most recent draft picks. As the region’s leader in local sports television, we are always looking for new ways to bring sports fans unique perspectives on their favorite teams and players.”

“This is a unique opportunity to give Wizards fans NBA excitement during the middle of the summer,” said Matt Williams, Executive Vice President for Washington Sports and Entertainment. “This will give fans a ‘sneak peak’ at some of the young players and recent draft picks. Comcast SportsNet deserves a special thanks for diligently working with us to make this happen.”

The 2007 NBA Summer League presented by adidas, formerly the Las Vegas Summer League, will feature 21 NBA teams and the Chinese National Team competing over 10 days, from July 6-15. A 55-game schedule will be played at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Summer Leagues game on TV, huh? Not a bad idea, if I do say so myself. I wish I was the one to come up with it. Damn!

Today the good people of Comcast Sportsnet are throwing the annual company picnic. That means The Dude will be chauffeured to the picnic site via company sponsored limo where he will imbibe on large amounts of malted beverage and jumbo Maryland Blue Crabs all day and all on the company dollar.

Sorry for the delay in getting this up. I know I promised it on Monday, but there was a bit of an 'issue' in getting it on-air. Apparently there's CSN sales beef with a certain used car company which is the opposite of Western's. It hasn't been resolved, but I found a way to get it done, as you clearly saw. Let's Drum Up Some Press!

In one of the most unlikely scenarios in television history, The Dude will once again be live blogging from the control room of Washington Post Live tomorrow evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

The first two instances of the live blog seem to have had one heckuva following as almost 900 people logged on to read the wise words of The Dude.

There will be some changes this week (for the better of course!) Mr. Mottram kindly suggested posting in chronological order, which The Dude will happily do. There will also be a place to leave your comments this week! Where you ask? Well, right here on The Dude Abides, of course!

Ah, The Dude is back from a relaxing (i.e. drunk) weekend spent camping in Western Maryland. The Comcast Sportsnet Softball Team swept our Saturday doubleheader and is now just one game out of the division lead. An excellent weekend all around.
